Lack of willpower may signal that there is an inner conflict, that there are two opposing currents working within you: one that wants you to accomplish your goals, and the other that's subconsciously opposing it. The cause for that opposition and resistance can be multifold:

1) it might not be authentically your goal but something that you believe you should be doing,

2) you might be self-sabotaging because you're afraid (subconsciously, without being aware of it) of the consequences, e.g.:

  • you might be afraid of leaving the comfort zone, which is almost always a precondition for success;

  • you might be afraid of being condemned and rejected for going after your own dreams instead of doing what your family expects from you;

  • you might be afraid of failure and proving that you're not good enough;

  • you might be afraid of succeeding and as a result, being put in the spotlight/ being exposed to criticism and judgment/ change your lifestyle to a more busy and hectic one;

  • you might be afraid of succeeding and causing envy in your family members (you don’t want to feel better than them).

This inner conflict and ambiguity in your intentions will weaken your willpower and your determination to go after your goal. Before you can proceed, you need to look into the problem and resolve any conflicting intentions you may have. Once you've made sure it is genuinely your decision and your goal, not someone else's, and that you do want to pursue it regardless of the discomfort it may bring, you'll automatically have more willpower and more motivation to go after your goal. The motivation will come naturally, from within, and you won't have to force and discipline yourself to do things.

Once you've sorted out the potential conflicting desires and cleared your intention, you can then work on day-to-day operative issues, such as better organizing your day, setting priorities and making an action plan, so that you make sure you're actually making progress, not just daydreaming about it.
